Misfits: Series 3.1

I must have been dropped on my head when I was little, because despite this series falling into the crapper badly at the end of last year, I’m strangely compelled to watch the new one. In my defence, it’s only 7 episodes long, they’ve got rid of Nathan (fucking HURRAH! maybe the writer (Overman) can grow up and stop being scatological humour obsessed), but better still they’ve transplanted in Joe Gilgun in as the 5th Misfit. Joe Gilgun! Fan-fucking-tastic: he was superb in This is England, and is charismatic, likeable and can actually act. This could be great… Read More…

Jarv’s Top 10 TV cunts

I’m just back from Spain, and because it was an absolutely hideous week I’m in what could be called an evil fucking temper. Therefore, as an act of pure therapy, I’ve been thinking about Television, and which characters are arguably the biggest cunts ever to grace the small screen. There is a proviso with this one- I don’t watch either soap operas or Reality TV, so I’m sure there are lots that I’ve missed (Cowell), and I have only included characters where I have witnessed the cuntishness on screen myself- hence no Lithgow from Season 3 Dexter. Furthermore, while Brent is no doubt a complete and utter cunt (of a type that I particularly loathe) I haven’t included him as there’s nothing more really to say as he’s made practically every other one of these lists out there.

So with no further ado, here are 10 of the most detestable bastards ever filmed for television. Read More…

Misfits: The Christmas Special.

All together now:

On the not-quite-first day of Christmas Howard Overman gave to me….

A steaming bucket of shit.

That, as they say, is that. Read More…

Misfits Series 2.6

Yes. Well. Erm. Not really sure how to go on with this one. On one hand, it was reasonably amusing, and the villain of the week (a brilliant take on possibly the worst power ever devised) was worthwhile, but on the other it was sort of lame. Thankfully, there’s a “Christmas Special” so this isn’t the series finale and it has one more chance to redeem itself. Read More…

Misfits Series 2.5

Meh, uninspired, meh, predictable rubbish, meh, retread, meh, ludicrous amount of sex in place of story, meh, meh, meh, meh, meh.

That about sums up my feelings for this episode.  Read More…

Misfits Series 2.4

Well, that was much better. Still, I’m not convinced that it’s back on form, but at least they tried hard to tie up a lot of the loose ends/ eradicate a lot of the cock-ups from the last two episodes.

Misfits Series 2.3

OK. This is Misfits on final fucking warning from me. Read More…

Misfits- Series 2.2

Pah. Well, I suppose it did have to happen. This was well overdue, and frankly massively disappointing. I’ve now got serious qualms about this series, that I’ll go into in a minute but I’ve a horrible feeling that Misfits is heading towards “Lost” territory here. Read More…

Misfits- Series 2.1

(All photos courtesy of E4, even if they don’t know about it)

I loved the first series of this, and reviewed it as an Underrated here based entirely on the fact that it felt like I was the only person in the country that saw it. However, it did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, although it was fairly obvious how it would be resolved- no prizes for guessing. Anyway, Channel 4 finally released the first episode of the second series, and it’s already up to speed in terms of quality. Read More…

The Underrated: Misfits

Own up- who actually watched this when it was on? I didn’t, and still wouldn’t have if I hadn’t accidentally blundered into a repeat of it the other night, but am I ever glad I did. Misfits is one of the most amusing new series that I’ve seen in a long time, a raucous referential take on comic books and the problems of having powers. Read More…
