  7. Droid says :

G Force is garbage and so is Chipfucks. I’m ashamed to have sat through both.

  8. xiphos0311 says :

    That’s pretty funny.

  10. koutchboom says :

Hey at least you tried. One day you’ll become a miserable bastard wanting to see others suffer worse then you.

  11. koutchboom says :

G Force, yeah that movie looked like it would be silly fun.

  12. koutchboom says :

  13. Tom_Bando says :

After catching the Bert Lahr ‘Courage’ song on Oz the other nite—you know, you REALLY could have done something w/ a CGI 200′ Bert Lahr in Cloverfield—

  14. Fred says :

    Muchas gracias, senor.

  18. koutchboom says :

Ok so I sat through In My Skin. Thats a skipper. Not gory or interesting enough for me.

Its as if lifetime wanted to make a horror movie.

  19. koutchboom says :

Anyone get anything good for Christmas?

  20. Bartleby says :

Know whats disturbing? That Harrys top ten looks alot like mine…That is literally the first time that’s happened. In fact, it kind of sucks because I thought no one else out there had seen Private Eye or The Square…both on the top twenty…damn!

At least Inglorious Basterds won’t be on there. Bronson either. Both of those were ‘too cool for school’.

    • koutchboom says :

Yeah I couldn’t belive Harry saw the light at the end of the tunnel with D9. I’ve been trying to make up a top ten in my head. And I know people are going to hate that Watchmen will be number 10.

      • Bartleby says :

Im putting together a top 25. Honestly, for all the complaining, it was a pretty great year for movies, all in all. Typically my top ten is filled with movies I’ll never watch again.

  21. koutchboom says :

Yeah I totally thought this year would blow and it turned out great. Though it did have two of the worst movies in the past 10 years, Year One and Transformers 2.

  22. Droid says :

This has ended up being a really good year, but for the first six months it looked like it was going to be absolute garbage. The films I’ve seen in the past few months have been great.

  23. koutchboom says :

OK I’m wrong. Watching District B 13 again and now that I’ve gotten away from it. Its fucking great.

  24. Chipps says :

anyone in need of some holiday cheer?

    • lord bronco says :

Mwhaha-i will post this to the metalverse-ASAP. If that had been me-and that was a paranormal Activity screening-it wouldn’t have ended nicely-mwhahaha

  25. Chipps says :

hey wow, that’s cool, i thought it would just be a link

  26. Chipps says :

so i went to the boxing day sales with our wedding loot and bought a fucking huge tv. and a couch. so then it was off to the video shop where i rented public enemies. it was passable entertainment. it didn’t follow dillinger perfectly but it wasn’t bad for hollywood. the more unbelievable stuff was the real stuff, there was minor continuity errors – timing of the death of baby face and pretty boy. also dillinger didn’t bust his mates out of the clink at the start, it was vice versa. but overall basically acurate. many of these events have multiple versions, and when they at least make an effort to go with one of the possible versions rather than some totally random different thing – well they get a pass from me on accuracy. one disturbing thing – mann had someone shoot up a vintage ford just to see what would happen (how it would look) what a waste. was that really necessary? this brings me to one of my pet hates. In period movies you never see beat up old cars. on a real street any given car will be between 1 and 15 years old (mine is 25). In the movies EVERY car is polished and brand new. The reason for this is obvious – if you have a vintage car you look after it. still they could build mock ups and stuff. if you can make a space ship look old, you can make a car look old.

the big problem with it to me is that it didn’t look very cinematic from time to time – and this sort of movie should look cinematic. way too much shaky cam nonsense – it was the wrong movie for that sort of thing. Every bank looked the same. there were no knock out senses. i enjoyed it, but at the same time was left a bit disappointed.

    • koutchboom says :

Though, and I’m just wondering here. You think maybe back then people did take a lot better car of their cars? Also cars were more durable back then. I don’t know anything really just guessing, I get what you are saying though.

  27. Chipps says :

so the next night i rented drag me to hell – fucking awesome movie – loved it. very cinematic – loved the constant ‘did i get any in my mouth’ gags, what a film.

    • Bartleby says :

      hey chipps! Hows it going?

Yea, I’ve seeb that Twilight video. It’s hilarious, although I was hoping for a few more extreme responses from the audience.

Drag Me To Hell was a great time, and that’s what my wife and I noted as well: it has perhaps the most vomit/body fluid per square inch of screentime. Funny because those who haven’t seen it think they are getting some neutered PG-13 tweeny horror.

  28. Bartleby says :

good point too on Public Enemies. Was sure the film would make my best of the year when I first saw it at the theater. But the video style is far more distracting at home then it was in the theater, and I just didn’t like the movie nearly as much. Odd.

  29. koutchboom says :

    Anyone seen The Aura??

  30. koutchboom says :

    Or Betty Blue?

  31. koutchboom says :

Damnit only a couple of days left to get my movie watching up. Dick around last night and only got 1 in started 2 others. Was trying to do 3 a day this week. We’ll see how tonight goes.

  32. koutchboom says :

Damn I was really surprised just how awesome District B13 ended up being. Don’t know why I was so unentralled in theaters. I think I had just seen the trailer too many times. But man that movie held up amazingly.

  33. koutchboom says :

    Love and Other Disasters???

  34. koutchboom says :

Arthur et la vengeance de Maltazard??? What the fuck? He made this?

  35. koutchboom says :

Also WOW the Tekken movie is still coming out. Sometime.

  36. Tom_Bando says :

Ahhhh Tony Todd. He’s great as a baddie. Fave line? in the Rock:
    “—and Mercenaries-Get-PAID. I WANT-MY-FUCKING-MONEY–!!”

Ed Harris, w/out missing a beat, “There is no fucking money.”

  37. koutchboom says :

Anyone seen the french Taxi series? That would be a sweet 1-4.

Also I want to see this French Top Guy, just going off the trailer alone:

    http://www.cinemagia.ro/trailer/les-chevaliers-du-ciel-sky-fighters-1393/

  38. koutchboom says :

Sweet sky fighter is in Netflix, but non of the Taxi’s are.

  39. koutchboom says :

God they are really going forward with Ghostbuster 3.

  40. Chipps says :

i enjoyed it. though after introducing hillary bonam carter, they just sorta forgot about that story line in all but the vaguest way

  41. Chipps says :

it’s a blue moon tonight – i wanna see some baby fucking smirfs

  42. just pillow talk says :

    Awright…

So I actually saw Avatar (the Smurf Ferngully war movie, all rights reserved for Xi), and…

that is why you go to the fucking movies. I had a blast with it. Even Mrs. Pillow loved it. The damn thing drew me in, no matter how “unoriginal” the story was.

    Also saw over the break:

Potter 6: um, okay but the scrapping of the battle at the end was fucking awful choice.

Transporter 3: It was a transporter movie with the appropriate circles of ass-kicking done by Statham, and I was wondering when they were going to turn up the ridiculousness up a knotch. And then they do it: landing a car on top of a train. And then landing said car inside a moving train. Brilliant.

The Poseiden Adventure: Still fucking great movie after seeing it a ton of times as a kid. Hackman and Borgnine. This is the only one that exists.

Shaun of the Dead: I had to watch this again after popping up on so many people’s lists, which got me in the mood to watch it. I love this movie.

    • Chipps says :

yeah now that i think about it smurf ferngully is a great name. i love the black books dude in shaun of the dead. that guy rules.

  46. koutchboom says :

Hey Con and Bart and anyone else thats seen Gomorrah. Finally finished it last night. Really liked it, but what I find odd is all the love it gets. It just seems like a movie people would hate.

What is it about the movie that makes people get up and applaud it? Is it the fact that its the most realistic mob movie? Because if so THATS WHY I FUCKING HATE OLD MOB MOVIES. I’ve always hated the idea of the Mob. The notion that they act like everything is black and white, when in truth everything is grey. Just annoyes me to no end. The fact that there are people out there like that, so careless and souless with human lives makes me almost applaud shitty government telling us how to think and act.

Its almost like people had no fucking clue that this is how the mob REALLY IS. Like they’ve grown up believe that Godfather = realistic potrayal of mob. I mean are you gonna tell me 40 so years from now someones going to make a gritty Vampire film and everyone is going to go nuts over it because THIS IS HOW VAMPIRES really are. Not like the Twilight ones we grew up with.

  47. lord bronco says :

*Sighs* Yes, it would seem My Lord Bale is not a perfect god-more like Zeus in the Greek pantheon, apparently. The guys at AIBN were rootin for Cameron’s mega-budget flop Avatar to singlehandedly destroy an established movie studio…This (t4) is the one that almost did it…
My real question is, is RDJ or Depp headed towards the same confontation with over exposure in 2010? With That wank Alice thing, and Iron man 2–could be…
And then public enemies being-a little bit off…well, we shall see.
Lord bale has become skinny though, i’m quite sure his majesty is tired of no oscars, so he’s going to play a junkie with bad teeth in this next movie. And with Marky mark-how could the film NOT win multiple oscars. It is going to be a happening-2010!!!

  48. Chipps says :

so i went and watched this little indie flick with oliver platt – 2012 i think it was called. it inspired me to get a new lounge on one of those 36 month interest free deals. nothing to pay till 2012. suckers

    • xiphos0311 says :

      Oi Chipps,

Happy new year. When does Mrs. chipps produce Chipps 2.0 and are you still deploying?

      • Chipps says :

i wasn’t deploying it was just an exercise, and i’m back. Maybe down the track…. The little one comes at the start of march. about 9 weeks.

  49. xiphos0311 says :

    Same to you Mr. Marmoset.

  50. ThereWolf says :

Happy 2010, everybody. Hope it’s a good ‘un.

Remember: Let’s do it to them before they do it to us.

    Cheers.
