The name Werewolves on the Moon comes from the title of a film that we dream of writing entitled Astrodykes v Werewolves on the Moon
In the meantime, we'll continue to procrastinate and bicker about the important things in life.
Tomorrow’s review is going to be “Blood: The Last Vampire”
because lovefilm sent it randomly. It may be good.
It probably won’t.
Hey Jarv! Tell your crazy peeps to lay off the gingers!
http://tinyurl.com/2dzwls
Because there’s no reason that gingers should be stabbed in the back and run from their homes without also being Texans named Harry. So insane!
hahaha
What the fuck happened to the stiff upper lip? They should deal with it.
Ginger bastards.
Hee hee-I was trowelling piffle onto the intertubes the other day, and i posited a future wherein Ginger-heads should be placed in concentration camps.
Exactly one day later this attention whore/music artist MIA releases a video apparently depicting just that!
The moxie! The failure for an attribution.
I am appalled-especially because i have not seen nor can i know see aforementioned repulsive video. YouTube yanked the video…
It has been a rough week for Mr. Bronco, it has…
Hahahah I finally know what Droid does on the weekends.
What the fuck is that?
There’s some fucking weirdo’s out there.
Chaaaaarliiiiiiiiiie!!
Splice review is up. Its a bit spoilerish, so be warned.
Koutch, this makes up for the weak-ass Double Down calorie count:

FULHAM!!!!!!!
No one else cares, but fucking hell. We’re in the Europa league final. Fucking unbelievable!!!
Fulham. “Fucking unbelievable!!!”
It’s a fucking MIRACLE, mate!
Says the City fan.
Not that I care.
Oi, I wasn’t being disparaging, Jarv. I’d say exactly the same thing if it was City.
Since I watched it again, I want to re-recommend the Holy Modal Rounders doc Bound to Lose to any and all who like music. They are a band I can consistently blast and nobody fucking complains about it sooooo……give ’em a try! Instant happiness!
They are sadly more-or-less forgotten despite being gloriously unhinged and joyful, and, unlike their brothers-in-arms The Fugs, they transcend the goddamn 60’s. THough, aside from the Easy Rider s/t they’re probably best remembered for this, which some of the elder statesmen here may recall from their 70’s youths……
This was a standard if you listened to Dr Demento on Sunday nights like me when I was a kid but never knew anything about the band that recorded it. A doc you say oh queen of docs? I’ll track it down. Thanks Blitz.
Yay hope you like it….Holy Modal Rounders are great!
Oh yeah. And anybody who hasn’t seen The Petrified Forest, watch it immediately, I don’t see how you could possibly regret it….
I’ve come to the conclusion that, should I ever get bored enough to make a baby, disliking that movie might be a “deal-breaker” since I hear we’re all supposed to have a list of petty “deal-breakers” or some such, aside from the standard, more rational “deal-breakers.” The Petrified Forest, I think, is one of mine….
your deal breaker is something nobody’s ever heard of?
Oh it is sooooo good. Bogart (who is friggin’ hot in it, by the way) plays an outlaw who takes a desert cafe hostage. Leslie Howard is a writer/drifter who gets caught up but doesn’t really care if he lives or dies. Bette Davis is the cafe worker who just wants out of the desert and falls for the drifter. Charles Grapewin is the grandfather who tells old stories, is enamored with myth and so is just stoked to have an outlaw around.
But that superficial description in no way does justice to the movie. And it’s way ‘ahead of its time’ for a movie made in 1936….Love it so much.
Hey, I’ve heard of the Petrified Forest.
Bogart got the job thanks to co-star from the play version, Leslie Howard. Bogie was so grateful he named his daughter Leslie after Mr. Howard tragically died at the start of WWII.
Saw ‘Xtro 3: Watch The Skies’ this evening.
Jesus wept. Openly.
I’m demoralised now.
I’ve always wanted to see the Xtro films and never got round to it.
The first one has some merit, marred by unpleasantness.
Xtro 2 wants to be ‘Aliens’. It’s not. It’s very poor.
Number 3 is indescribably putrid. I wanted to gouge my own eyes out after 20 minutes.
I might review this trilogy. If I do it won’t be pretty.
Go for it. So they’re all shit then?
2 & 3 are shite.
1 isn’t very good, but I’ve got a grudging admiration for it.
I had no idea there were 3 of those. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the first one years ago, I dont recall liking it but dont really remember any of it.
Much to my amazement I quite enjoyed Blood: The Last Vampire, then had exactly the same reaction to Avatar that I had in the cinema: first 2/3 are garbage, but really enjoyed the last end and didn’t care about what had come prior.
To be honest, it will be a long time before I give that another spin, as I reckon next time out I’m not going to like it if I haven’t got at least 6 months’ grace.
Wolf, man…..Galaxy Of Terror, Forbidden World, Inseminoid and now Xtro? Is everything alright? I am starting to become concerned for your well-being…
I’ve suddenly realised I’ve set meself up to do 6 reviews…
Not to mention, I threatened to do all the Star Trek films the other night…
So, clearly no, everything’s not all right!
Give you something to do on a wet Bank Holiday Weekend in Manchester.
Very sensible.
You’re not wrong, Jarv.
The weather forecast is grim.
It’s just occurred to me that that lazy convict git has today off.
Bastards.
Hows work?
mwa ha ha ha ha!!!
You may be surprised to hear that it’s actually….
shit.
Fuck off.
I’m pig sick of this place. I’m a highly trained, hugely experienced marketing whore and I’m wasting my life banging out substandard web copy- while being buried under the most ridiculous level of admin ever.
Need new job.
Say wha? It sounds like your life is complete and full of meaning with your job.
I think you should give it at least another six months. You owe it to them.
Or…
You can declare pencil jihad on the lot of them and then move on to a new job.
I hear you man. My problem is that I can’t find any fucking thing. Like what the fuck did people do before Monster and Career builder?
The most annoying thing now is that to apply to any fucking job you need to fucking fill out that same god damn thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. You can’t just send in your resume any more. Its fucking annoying.
I hate those fucking forms.
The current industry I work in, though, Monster etc are completely useless, and I have to plough through TES and The Guardian jobs pages. It’s painful.
Yeah I hate them to, I just don’t know where else to go to look for jobs. The news paper seems to be my only other choice. Everything else is just littered with spam and work at home nonsense.
Since Blitz mentioned an old movie that was enjoyable…
12’o clock high with Gregory Peck, which somehow I’ve never seen, was really quite excellent. Mrs. Pillow had to watch it for her leadership class, and even she thought it was quite good for a “war” movie.
I think I’ll be watching Brotherhood of the Wolf tonight.
Brotherhood is mint.
Did you see the Splice reviews Pillows? It seems like me and droid have a different opinion from the rest of the world
It most definitely is mint.
Yeah, I saw them, droid’s was especially scathing, so I think I will never watch it. I’m a bit sad that it sucks.
Agreed. It’s a shame.
I’ve got Mutant Chronicles & Splinter lined up for this weekend.
Should I be excited or what?
Splinter is mint. MC is not.
Jane is quite good, but it’s really not a good film.
Well, at least I’ve got one winner.
Mutant Chronicles is complete shit.
Really, really looking forward to MC now…
Might require the cracking of a few bottles of Leffe to get me through it.
It’s just totally mediocre. A really good cast don’t really do anything.
Though give MC a chance, I found that it got better as it went along.
That’s true. It did get better before losing it completely at the end. It just wasn’t as badassed as it thought.
Yeah I think really the big problem was the weak ass discription of this future. It made no fucking sense. So you didn’t care about a lot that was going on the screen. Its at least and interesting failure.
That’s a good description of it. It’s a good idea that they completely botched in a terrible colour pallette.
Lazy fucking convict sitting on his ass doing nothing while I’m uploading stuff, writing stuff and fixing databases.
Fucking bastarding lazy cunting fucking Aussie cunt.
I want to be not at work.
You guys care about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake?
Well I read a spoiler and it pretty much stoped me from seeing it, highligh below if you care:
That’s me out. Bart said that the other day, and that’s a shit idea.
Koutch, your spoiler is wrong.
Rather I should say, they dabble with it, but that isn’t actually the truth.
It does sound a bit of a daft idea to be honest.
more daft than doing that, is not commiting. Like…ok, thats how it is, and then have a ‘just kidding moment’. I actually thought if they committed wholly to that idea, they could have had an interesting and different movie on their hands. He’s a different kind of Freddy anyway, and that motivation would have suited him better. Instead, they pull out at the last second.
So finished Ghost in the Darkness last night it was ok. Soild movie, but Michael Douglas was sort of wasted and had a very very weak death. I was surprised to find out that be was the executive producer on it. Thought he would’ve made his part a little more memorable.
Hahahah that movie won an Oscar and Val Kilmer was nominated for a Razzie. God I fucking hate the Razzies SOO FUCKING useless and unfunny. They could be great, but they are run by people who don’t fucking watch movies.
Hmmm listening to John McTiernan’s commentary on Predator is made it seem like the movie was a flop. So I was thinking that it had some giant budget. But it only cost $15 million, which is decent back then but nothing super huge. And it made $98 million world wide. Thats a good take.
What’s your next rectification Koutch?
That take for Predator, by the way is about $20m sheer profit. What’s he whinging about?
Ohh nothing. I just thought it was some flop thats all.
And I’m thinking of doing Duck Soup. Just haven’t been able to stay up and watch movies. Travelled all last weekend and didn’t get to catch up on sleep like I normally do on weekends. So I’ve been nackered all week. I’ve got my three net flicks at home still. Ninja Assassin/District B-13 2/Bigger Than Life (yes I got it from Ginger towns dvd colum, I still find that thing useful).
That’s a cracker.
Skippy, have you worked out what you’re doing tomorrow regarding Centurion?
and yes, for all wondering…skipping Nightmare on Elm St. is exactly the right call.
I had zero interest in seeing the Elm street remake to begin with.
I think this weekend I’ll try and watch Avatar in the comfort of my home. I’ll probably also watch Blindside because Mrs. Pillow really wants to see it. I’m sort of blah towards it.
Iron Man 2 review is up.
My internet is playing funnybuggers. Can someone tell me if the pics are showing?
Fucking Gorillaz are playing in the Roundhouse tonight, and I forgot to get tickets. I could go and scalp some, but I’m not that keen.
Weird search of the day!
“jailbait egyptian fucking”
How the fuck did that end up here?
and this one’s for the MIA monkey
“species the awakening boobs”
Which reminds me. I’m definitely going to put Bitch Slap up next week for an Underrated.
Mutant Chronicles…
Well, I got into it for the first half. Then, just about when Thomas Jane went off to rescue Pertwee (pointlessly, as it turned out), my attention began to drift. I just thought it was slackly written at times. Jane mutating was a pretty good idea.
Jarv’s right about the colour tone – hueless, even in blu-ray.
The ending: was that meant to be blackly humorous?
Okay, this looks ridiculous, but oddly compelling.
Doc Brown FTW!!!
Oh, my lord…
Can we possibly hope for a little Deep Blue Sea-esque-iness?
HAPPY MAY DAY!!!!!!!!!
Merry May Day – back atcha, Blitz!
2033 review coming tomorrow.
in under 20 wordes
A fine pickup for a buck–the Cincinnati Kid w/ Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret, Edward G Robinson and Karl Malden. All of’em are good, but you know who rules in this one? Edward G. No joke. If you’ve never seen it, do check it out a good good film.
Edward G. Robinson always rules Tom. But I want Chris Nolan to resurrect him from Cincinnati Kid and have him be the Penguin in the next Batman film.
Fucking Wednesday have been relegated. I think. Fucking useless cunts.
I’m watching it. They’ve had plenty of chances.
Christ. Couldn’t score in a brothel with an Amex strapped to their cocks.
That was painful.
2nd Palace goal really deflated them.
Fuck it. Football’s shit anyhow.
We going to archive this?
RE: Previous months. Maybe we could create a page with the links on it, then link to that page here.
I was just going to make a child page called Archive and then put all the other months on it rather than being on the main Rec Room Page.
I’ll archive it this afternoon.
Just watched Legion which was all a bit meh. And fucking hell, Koutch would love it because most of the film is so dark that you can barely make out who’s in it.
And Supernatural just shits all over the whole representation of angels. I realise it’s a whole different thing, but Gabriel in SN is awesome and in this he’s some massive lunkhead. Makes me long for some Casa Erotica.
CASA EROTICA FTW!!!
It needed to be done.
Hang on- massive spoiler:
I haven’t watched this week’s yet, but didn’t Lucifer off Gabriel last week?
Yeah, this is the case. Just commenting on the difference.
Told ya.
Yes, you did. But the problem is… I don’t listen.
SONOFABITCH!
Damn I was hoping for that film just to be some silly fun. FUCK this no lighting trend.
Oh yeah get this over here all released on the same day on dvd in like two weeks: Edge of Darkness, Daybreakers, Legion. Can’t believe that really.
I want to see EoD. I like me some Mad Mel.
And Legion isn’t terrible. It’s just meh and it doesn’t help that it looks like it was shot during a power failure.
Yeah I wish I saw EoD and Book of Eli in theaters.
BoE is really good. It comes out on dvd soon.
Actually Book of Eli doesn’t have an American DVD release yet.
I hope they aren’t saving it for Christmas like its some Christmas movie?
May 31st here.
Well fuck you PAL and weird pronged electrical outlets.
Eli is awesome.
Didnt get into EoD, worth a watch on dvd, it’s a fine thriller but there’s nothing big screen worthy about it.
As for Legion looking ‘like it was shot during a power failure’, it’s actually part of the story that the diner has no power for a while so it’s fitting.
While that may be true, its still no reason to shoot your movie so that you can’t see the actors.
Spurs vs the old foe Suns in the semis.
C’mon San Antonio!
Watched Splinter. Cool movie, good cast & a fucked up creature.
I did start to get irritated by the juddering camerawork every time they shot the creature – other than that, solid.
It’s a relief, cos I’ve seen a lot of fair-to-piddling stuff recently.
Yeah, it’s not perfect (there’s some really shoddy character work in it as well), but it is good fun,
Just saw Clash of the Titans there. The remake, mind, not the Bubo version. It was okay, good F/X, like watching a video game though, you know? hard to remember any of the side characters or care about’em. Four or five get nailed by Medusa but it’s a ‘whatever’ response. You have as much sympathy for all those anonymous bad robots in TF Too there from last summer.
And that Kraken there-should have come up outta the water Earlier, nuked a city or two, disappeared, etc. so we’d get to Anticipate the big fight at the end there. But maybe they don’t like that kinda idea in Hollywood now….
While I didn’t get to watch much this weekend, at least I watched Brotherhood of the Wolf.
I do like that Vincent Cassel fella.
And Monica, the marriage offer continues to stand…
http://www.simondale.net/house/index.htm
FUCK YEAH!
Even more bad ass!
Fucking love bank holidays.
WOW they are going to make it?

Probably funnier then the actual movie.
