A disparate group of individuals who share common interests in film, TV and other entertainment.
The name Werewolves on the Moon comes from the title of a film that we dream of writing entitled Astrodykes v Werewolves on the Moon
In the meantime, we'll continue to procrastinate and bicker about the important things in life.
“happily reading Jackie Collins on the tube, hoping that his arousal is staying hidden from the fat guy he’s pressed against.”
I just spit out my lunch on that one.
So I had to watch the first part of Red Cliff again over the weekend in anticipation of watching the second part at some point this week since I just got it over the weekend. Is the second part even better than the first part?
its just as good, JPT. Thing is it successfully completes the story and makes the first that much better as a result.
Yeah that Mininoy crap never interested me. But Angel-A was pretty good, a throw back to his Le Diner Combat days. But I think he’s married/banging that main chick in that film. He needs to stop that shit. Well I mean yeah he can bang chicks, but stop just making films for them. She was fine and all, but the movie was just missing something.
Professional and Fifth Element are my favorites. I also like Subway, which has the distinction of being the movie that made Danny feel “like people were touching him inappropriately” as he watched it.
Angel A was decent. I forgot that one was his. It was fine, but nothing spectacular.
Yeah 5th Element is one of my all time favorites.
Xi posted this in the twilight thread at my site. Good stuff:

Man everyone wants to give Viggo the Oscar already for The Road. Fuck if he gets one then the dude from D9 should get one as well.
Sharlto Copely is more deserving of the Oscar than Viggo. Most of Mortensen acting is make-up and looking towards the horizion gravely. Copely had an actual emotional arc going on, not to mention he had to handle the actualy physical transformation with something approaching believable emotions.
Yeah I hope he gets noticed. I mean for Viggo to make a movie now, any movie, probably isn’t that hard for him at this point in his career. For any Viggo movie, critics love to cry GIVE HIM AN OSCAR!
But Shart had a much more complex character then Man. I would love to see D9 sweep the Oscars in the technical categories then pick up best actor, that would be amazing. I think it deserves it.
You saw Precious, I’ll probably catch it this week. You think she is going to get it? Its between her and that An Education girl I’m betting.
Man I love District 9. I wish I was watching it right now.
The movie The Single Man sounded interesting, but the whole trailer was just critic blurbs saying Colin Firth will get and Oscar for this, and Jullian Moore too!
seriously! I noticed that! It was ridiculous. Not a single other comment about the films quality, just Oscar this, Oscar that…I wanted to see a blurb that said “Production design on the 1950s period setting sure to garner Oscar”
Robert Jackson is a shoe in for a Sound Editing Oscar in this chance of a lifetime.
AAAAAAAAAhahahahahah that guy, Robert Jackson was also the sound editor for The Road. Looks like he’s got two spots taken up already.
Ohhh it should get a production design oscar, just based on the customes alone! I mean SUITS! They always get Oscar noms.
Xiphos
How’s Monica?
Plus its directed by some former head of fashion or something for Armani I think.
Did anyone notice that THE ROAD is basically I AM LEGEND?
you’d be a tool not to notice the similarities. Also, The Last Man on Earth. The one with Donal Logue in his underwear.
Yeah I also heard someone say that The Book of Eli looks just like a rehash of this as well. I just laughed in his face and told him to get off my plane.
Not to bring reality back into the equation, but while writing up the review for Cinematropolis, I stumbled upon what movie really reminds me of The Road. It’s this one, from 1983:

More Kevin Costner schlock your trying to shill to us?
not trying to shill you anything…you are beyond hope.
Don’t hate the viewer, hate the movie. Not my fault you didn’t drink a little bit before you went to see Twilight 2: Die Harder.
You know, I really didn’t see that? I think Bart mentioned it somewhere though.
God I’m trying to write a review for Boondock Saints 2 and nothing’s happening. The whole time I was watching the movie I was like???? Fuck these other characters just show the brothers and Billy C or Where the hell is Williem Defoe.
Though the ending does give way to what could be a great third movie…..if that ever happens.
I just didnt like it very much. It was a waste of time, really. I guess it doesn’t help that I disliked the first too.
Testament at 20? A doc about the movie? Was that movie a TESTAMENT to good film making or something?
I dunno exactly what you are talking about. Forgot about Costner being in the movie until you mentioned it. Seriously, have you seen it? Just pure depression, slogging through an obvious outcome with brutal results. I basically remember Jane Alexander sitting with her children slowly watching them die of radiation poisoning.
Naw I’ve never seen it, I just saw Costner’s name in the IMDB credits. Looks interesting though. I read some one compare The Road to Sátántangó. Look at that running time!

Funny story about Satan’s Tango. Some years ago one of the experimental stations we got was playing it. I turned it on in, hell I don’t know, maybe the middle, and watched a bit, until I realized it wasn’t truly going anywhere and it was just getting weirder. I didn’t know what it was and never got enough clues to track it down. I turned it off after an hour or so. Later that day, my roomate comments that there is a strange-ass movie on television, and I sit down and say yea, that was on earlier, they must be replaying it, until I realize the bizarre crap on screen is different bizarre crap. We get drawn into it for another 25 minutes or so, but then just walk off and come back and it’s still going on. We started to feel like we were in the Twilight Zone or something. Like there is a station with a live feed to the F’ed Up Zone, and it’s continually broadcasting.
I kind of want to see it. I don’t know why, I want to do it to say I did it.
I kind of want to see it. I don’t know why but I want to do to say I did it.
start with some other bela tarr first. Some of his stuff is on netflix.
“you’d be a tool not to notice the similarities.”
I have been called “The Hammer” , or did you mean something along
the lines of electrically operated ones?
whatever floats your boat, Morb. How ya been?
Also its got William Devane, and I always find it funny to see him in things, because our landlord in England looked just like him. Imagine William Devane with a very proper British Accent.
So, this is where the cool kats is at?
Question about The Road. Do you think they got a boy actor who looked slightly off? Like possibly mentally handicap? Since it was a home birth and WHO KNOWS what sort of end of the world thing happened.
Not necessarily, but I think they did find one that could stare vacantly. You realize he wouldn’t be all together there or well balanced, because all he ever knew was The Apocalypse. He wants to see other kids so bad becuase my guess is he has NEVER seen another child his entire life.
Shut the fuck up Brandon Judell, CultureCatch I doubt The Road will get any Oscar noms.
This is where all the kool kats is at!
That was weird. I did not see my post come up, then bam!
Hey Kobe, don’t feel sad. Just create a new post, and make it better! Nah,na, nanananana….Hey Kobe!
Or Bakes your Cake.
Sorry Bart, couldn’t resist. Things are fine, and you?
I liked your review of New Moon. You’ve got a nice TB going there, have to go check out any new postings in the last couple days.
Is there a way to put time stamps on thewe posts?
outside of the date stamps, I don;t think so Morbius. Thanks for your encouragement over there. I just found them wedged in the midst of all the fiery discourse. Xi posted a great link over there. Think thats the last thing that went up.
I see Kobe found my post from The Avatar TB.
Thanks Bartleby! Where is Cornelius?
Chaps, I’ve created a new Rec Room. Each month we’ll be archiving this one as it gets annoyingly huge. Head over to https://moonwolves.wordpress.com/burt-gummers-rec-room/ and i’ll archive this one under a November link at the top of the page. Cheers.
Hey Bart, you remember 11:14? Franklyn was like a bad version of that movie, well the end anyway.
