Pacquiao vs. Clottey: THAT WAS A PRIZE FIGHT
I decided to create this post so all of us that watched the fight or like boxing can talk about it in one place. Also, in fairness, to the sports averse among us it gives them an opportunity to skip this and not have to scroll past endless post in the Rec Room they have no interest in.
One last piece of business before I spew out my take on this damn good fight. I would like to give a tip of the cap to our resident simian one Mr. Franklin T. Marmoset for correctly saying the fight will go the distance. Good call Frank and you have earned the extra bananas coming your way this week good sir. Now on to my brief take on the fight, I look forward to the discussion to follow.
The first 8 rounds it looked like Clottey was going to get popped, and soon, probably in the ninth round. Pacman was systematically beating him down those first eight rounds. Clottey didn’t seem to have an answer for the damage Manny was inflicting on him.
Then the 9th round hit and Clottey dug deep into his heart and decided to not go out like a punk. I think he knew he wasn’t going to win on points and knocking Manny out is damn near impossible so he decided to stand up and earn his respect. This is the beauty of boxing, or any sport really, but boxing especially; that sacred moment when one man decides to leave it all on the ring or the field and damn the consequences. Boxing truly is a metaphor for life.
Round 10 Clotty landed some nice body shots and took the damage that Pacman was throwing. Round 11 was where Clottey showed his true fighting heart. He landed three uppercuts that looked like they surprised Pacman and stood him up. Clottey had two combinations that were impressive and tried to stay on the attack against Pacquiao. Clottey didn’t quite do that but he did blunt Manny’s offense a bit which is impressive since Pacman usually owns the late rounds.
Round 12 was where the flurries and the hope of landing the big blow comes into play and Clottey acquitted himself honorably. Young Joshua Clotty can hold his head high, he fought like a man and was defeated but not beaten by a superior fighter. It was damn good fight and both men should be proud of what they accomplished.
One last point the undercards were also good fights.
Well that’s it for the fight recap let’s break it down in the ChangBack people.
