Trailerthon – December 6th 2009

It’s been a while that I did one of these as well, but here are some trailers for some upcoming flicks.

Micmacs à tire-larigot

Release Date: January 8th 2010 (UK)

Another oddball flick from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, director of Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, The City of Lost Children, Delicatessen and of course, Alien: Resurrection.  I’m not a huge fan of his movies, TCOLC being the most interesting one of the bunch, but his movies are never boring.

Brooklyns Finest

Release Date: March 5th 2010 (US)

This looks pretty good. Directed by Antoine Fuqua in Training Day mode and has a great cast including Ethan Hawke, Richard Gere, Don Cheadle and Wesley Fucking Snipes! Apparently this was at Sundance 2009 where it got a few decent reviews (IMDB score is 8.9 from 322 votes. Not that IMDB is a great indicator.).

Season of the Witch

Release Date: March 19th 2010 (US)

I like Nic Cage. He’s almost become a parody of himself but I honestly can’t think of a flick he’s done in recent memory (that I’ve seen) where I’ve been bored.  Maybe Ghost Rider? But he always has some sort of ridiculous roadkill sitting on his head that’s always amusing.  He is occasionally a good actor.  And for his sins (both financial and for marrying Presleys kid), he’s the only big actor that continues to serve up genre flicks for our enjoyment.  And here we have another one, directed by Dominic Sena, and starring the mullet from Con Air.  The trailer doesn’t really explain anything beyond ‘having to take a witch somewhere’, but who cares?  Look at that hairpiece!

Note:  I couldn’t find a poster for this flick anywhere on the web, which seems odd since it’s out in 4 months.

Nine

Release Date: December 25th 2009 (US)

I will pimp anything with Daniel Day-Lewis in it.  Even a musical with Nicole Kidman, Goldie Hawn Jr and Plastic Fantastic from The Black Eyed Peas.  He’s a fucking legend.  That is all.

Crazy Heart

Release Date: December 16th 2009 (US)

I hate country and western music, but this looks good.  Jeff Bridges is a champ, and it’s apparently  generating a bit o’ the old “Oscar Buzz”.  Has Bridges been recognised by his fucking peers yet?  If he hasn’t, it’s a travesty!  He should have a little gold man in a bathrobe holding a white russian sitting on his shelf.

44 Inch Chest

Release Date: January 22nd 2010 (UK)

I first saw this at our old haunt AICN, and it does indeed look good.  Ray Winstone kicks ass, and the cast is filled with great British actors. Not to be mistaken with Jarv’s favourite wank material, ’12 Inch Schlong’.

Bitch Slap

Release Date: January 8th 2010 (US)

This looks amusingly awful.  I assign one of you Yanks to see and review this when it comes out.

About Judge Droid

In between refining my procrastination skills I talk a lot of shit about movies and such.

  1. Droid says :

Jonah/Jarv, if you guys hold the secret to formatting this properly please fill me in. I try to add paragraph breaks between the trailers and such and it refuses to work.

    • Jarv says :

      Fuck.

I had a similar problem the other day. I think it can be a bit moody on occasion. Have you tried actual HTML tags.

      • Droid says :

Yeah, I tried that yesterday when I posted this. Well, I just used the old (without the star. The fucking thing works here doesn’t it!), alas it did not work. I’m going to try to get what Frankie’s using because that looks really good.

*EDIT FOR THE 4TH FUCKING TIME

        Fuck it. The paragraph break.

      • Droid says :

Cheers Frankie. I only ever pay zero for software. Good to see that these guys have conceded defeat.

  2. Tom_Bando says :

I like Nick Cage movies. The National Treasures are fun junky B movie fodder, never saw Ghost Rider, thought that Knowing had it’s moments. He’s unique at the least.

  3. lord bronco says :

Not the Bees! Not The Bees! *Ahrglle lahglle laggele*

    Ghost Rider. Bad.

  4. ThereWolf says :

“How did it burn! How’d it burn, how’d it burn!” Season Of The Witch – all hail the Cage…

    Bitch Slap looks awful.

  5. Droid says :

I like Richard Gere. Fuck knows why. He’s great in Primal Fear and Internal Affairs, but apart from that I can’t really think of anything I really like of his. Actually, Days of Heaven is fucking awesome. That’s three in thirty years.

And I only asked the Yanks to review Bitch Slap because it comes out at the cinemas in january or whenever (on a limited release… not sure exactly what that means). But if you can get your grubby mitts on a dodgy copy then you better bloody review it or there’ll be hells to pay!

  6. Continentalop says :

Droid, you don’t like country? No, I think you just don’t like CRAPPY country music (which is admittedly 90% -95% of it).

But Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yokam, Marty Robins, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn….fucking pure gold.

  7. Continentalop says :

    Like this is great country:

All other country sucks shit thought. I admit that.

    • koutchboom says :

You want good country, you tube search Unknown Hinson. He does the main voice on Squidbillies, hate that show or not he’s a fucking crazy bastard.

  8. Jarv says :

    Go and fuck yourself.

    Cunt.

    • Droid says :

      hehe

That’s payback for all the fucking back-stabbing I recieved on saturday. Fuck me. I spend one day away from this joint and you all fucking turn on me. Pricks!

  9. Jarv says :

    Oh please, bitch,

When the fuck have the Queensberry Rules ever applied here?

  10. koutchboom says :

Ethan Hawke the true star of Trainning Day. That still boggles my mind.
