Koutchboom Rectifies the Situation: 2001: A Space Odyssey

Haven’t done this in a while and I feel like this choice is a bit of an odd one seeing that I may be the last movie geek on earth to properly watch it, I have seen at least most of this film before because my parents owned it on DVD when it first came out, but I recall falling asleep a lot. An issue which I also had to fight this time while watching it, so I did break the movie up in two days with the two halves. So let’s see how its stood the test of time….

Koutchboom’s Adventures In Terrible Comedy – Cop Out

Sometimes on an adventure you hear of a great tale/myth/sighting/tourist trap that sounds too good to resist so you must pursue it. Sometimes this can lead to an amazing find but usually the end result is a bit of a let down. Sort of like Stonehedge. Seems really cool but when you are finally there (ITS FUCKING AMAZING!!) its a bit of a let down. This brings us to my next stop on this adventure with no end in site: ladies and gentlebrits I have heard of a movie directed by one of the greatest comedy directors, who is bringing back a often thought dead great genre of film ‘the buddy cop comedy’ (you can thank ‘The Man’ for it’s demise). It also stars one of the great wise cracking action stars and a comedian who hasn’t been beaten to death yet so he still seems fresh. This will be an epic movie which will rejuvenate the genres life blood and bring you a plentiful harvest of more to come. The movie you seek goes by the name of………

So continues my adventure toward the depths of the human condition and just how low one will go for a laugh. I’m usually willing to go very low but if you are going to make a funny movie, please make sure your movie actually falls into the comedy section of the video rental store.

So its been a little over a month and this weekly segment where I go back and watch movies that are considered classics and I have yet gotten around to seeing them, or I have seen them but I was too young to realize what I was watching IS BACK! I’m going to try to see if the film is worthy of its greatness or not, feel free to disagree with me and defend a movie you love or a movie you hate. Either way at least now I can say I’ve seen THAT movie.
